Emerson Engineer /Senior Engineer -Supplier Performance in CHENNAI, India

Job Summary:

If you are looking for an opportunity to grow in Supply Chain and Supplier Performance Engineering, Emerson has this excellent role for you! The Senior / Supplier Performance Engineer will be responsible for managing the Supplier Performances for the various commodities. The job scope includes setting goals & collaborate with Supplier base on Quality, Speed and Service levels to support global sites.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Provide supplier development leadership, technical expertise, and project management of performance improvement initiatives with suppliers. Coordinate supplier improvement needs with Strategic Procurement, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Engineering and Operations personnel. Position is a strategic resource that will plan, develop and implement actions to drive continuous improvement at suppliers.

  • Lead world-area supply chain performance improvements in support of business needs; areas of improvement include on-time delivery, quality, cost initiatives and intra-company parts/assembly issues

  • Assist commodity managers in leading supplier business reviews

  • Use appropriate tools and processes, to include, but may not be limited to the following: Lean Techniques, Six Sigma Tools, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Capability Studies, Process Mapping, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility Analysis (Gage R&R)

  • Handle projects through completion, using Quality Assurance, Engineering and Procurement associates as needed across the business

  • Conduct training at suppliers in the use of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and global Supplier Quality Manual requirements

  • Track and monitor supplier performance metrics of On Time Delivery, analyze and derive action plans for eliminating the root causes of any delays, which affects the delivery performance, process improvements to reduce lead time etc., in respective world area

  • Conduct project briefings to upper-level management

  • Lead supplier approvals process, conduct on-site quality system and process audits, to include follow up and closure of open items discovered during the audits

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Must possess project management and auditing skills

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma. Possessing certification as a Green Belt or higher would provide an extra benefit..

  • Able to read prints and understand Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills – Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Travel – 40% (local and international travel)

  • International experience preferred. English required; Multilingual preferred

  • Ability to identify areas of opportunity, develop and implement plans and solutions ensuring continuous improvement

  • Flexible to work from Mahindra World City, Chengalpet

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgical, Instrumentation, Electrical & Electronics) required. Experience in sand casting, investment casting, Forging, machining, die casting, rubber, plastic, springs, and/or stampings are a plus.

  • proven experience in supplier improvement efforts with demonstrated analytical, communication, project management and decision-making skills; operations and/or procurement experience preferred
