Emerson Environmental Sustainability Communications Coordinator in Belgium

We are seeking an expert and dynamic Environmental Sustainability Communications Coordinator to lead our internal and external communications efforts related to this topic. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies that promote our sustainability initiatives, engage stakeholders, and improve our brand's reputation as a leader in environmental stewardship.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Internal Communications & Engagement

  • Develop and execute globally consistent and locally relevant communication strategies for internal audiences focused on environmental sustainability to raise awareness and drive employee engagement.

  • Create and manage content for our internal communication program across multiple channels, media and employee engagement platforms.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of sustainability messages and communication campaigns worldwide.

  • Organize and participate in internal sustainability events and webinars to educate and engage employees worldwide.

  • Lead and develop Emerson’s Global Green Teams program, liaising with our global Green Teams Council to expand the scope and reach of our volunteer-based local sustainability organizations.

  • Design and lead global sustainability initiatives and campaigns to foster a culture of sustainability within the organization (e.g., Earth Month activities) and recognize employee effort.

  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of internal communication strategies and campaigns.

Internal Learning and Development

  • Create and maintain general sustainability awareness training for Emerson employees.

  • Liaise between Emerson’s sustainability department and human resources to design and implement sustainability upskilling pathways for multiple business functions and leadership levels.

  • Design and maintain processes to create stretch assignments and projects that match individual employee passion around sustainability with existing business needs.

  • Liaise with human resources to ensure sustainability is present across each phase of an employee lifecycle, from hiring through to transitioning roles.

  • Stay current with industry trends, standard processes, and emerging issues to advise communication strategies.

External Communications Support

  • Support the Emerson’s Marketing and Communications team with communication strategies for external audiences passionate about the company’s global environmental sustainability.

  • Support sales and marketing teams by providing information on environmental sustainability topics for customer-facing events and materials.

  • Foster relationships with external collaborators, including NGOs, government agencies, industry groups, and community organizations.

You are the first to spot possible future policies, practices, and trends in the organization, with the competition, and in the marketplace. You adjust communication content and style to meet the needs of diverse collaborators. You serve as a strategic partner to build, grow, and maintain profitable and long-lasting relationships with key accounts.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Environmental Science, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in similar role.

  • Proficient in English.

  • Proven track record of developing successful internal communication strategies and campaigns.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex sustainability topics in a clear and engaging manner.

  • Strong project management.

  • Proficiency in using social media platforms, content management systems, and digital communication tools.

Preferred qualifications that set you apart:

  • Outstanding leadership and influencing skills.

  • Background in environmental sustainability, Environment, Social and Governance (ESG), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) topics, or sustainability reporting would be highly valuated.

  • Past experience in working within a matrix organization.

  • Proficiency in another European language.
